Search for your name
Type the name you have in mind, pick the extensions and see right away whether it is available. Checks are made on the official registries.
Results appear here. Try a name that comes to mind: the check takes a few seconds.
«Available» means the name does not appear registered at the registry: before registering it, check the extension's requirements and that it does not infringe someone else's trademark. We do not save the names you search: results stay in temporary memory for a few hours, so we do not overload the registries.
How it works
- Check several extensions at once: .it, .com, .eu and more, even several names in one go with the list mode.
- See how reliable the result is: «official check» when the registry answers, «indicative check» when it can only be inferred from DNS.
- If it is registered: expiry date, registration date and registrar, when the registry publishes them. You can ask to be notified when it frees up.
- If it is available: similar alternatives already checked and a reminder of how to register it.
What «available» means
«Available» means the name does not appear registered at the extension's registry. That is not enough to be sure you can register it: some extensions have requirements (for .it and .eu you need residence or a seat in eligible countries), some names are reserved by the registry, and an available name can still infringe someone else's trademark.
The final step is always registration with a registrar, an accredited provider you pay for the domain, usually for yearly periods. The registry has the last word.
How to choose a good domain name
- Short and easy to dictate: if you have to spell it letter by letter, it is too complicated.
- No hyphens or digits, unless they are part of the brand: they are forgotten and mistyped.
- Consistent with your business name: people looking for you by name should be able to guess it.
- Think about the extension: .it builds trust with an Italian audience, .com speaks to an international one, .eu to Europe. Consider registering the most common variants too.
- Check trademarks: an available domain is not a domain you can use freely if it is too close to someone else's trademark.
Which extension to choose
There is no absolute best extension: it depends on who you want to reach. .it is tied to Italy and reassures people looking for an Italian business; .com is the best known and works well for an international audience; .eu addresses Europe and is reserved for those who live or have a seat in the EU/EEA.
Thematic extensions (.shop, .online, .store, .app, .dev, .tech…) describe the sector or type of business. The .app and .dev extensions require the site to be served over HTTPS.
After you find the name
- Register it in your own name, not in the name of whoever builds your site: it is the same rule as store accounts, explained in the checklist before commissioning a project.
- Note the expiry date and turn on auto-renewal: a domain that is not renewed expires and, after a few phases, can be registered by others.
- Think about the website and email: the name is of little use without a site. A fixed-price website starts at €1,350; for an idea of the costs use the quote calculator.
How we handle data
The names you search for are not saved. Results stay in temporary memory for a few hours, so we do not overload the registries, and are not linked to you. If you ask for a «when it frees up» alert we use your email only for that, after you confirm with one click, and you can cancel at any time. Details in the privacy policy.
